A Creative Child
All children have inner beauty and talent. Letting it out on canvas, stage or the dance floor though is something every child needs help learning to do. That is the purpose behind The Kitty Dark Kid’s Arts Camp in Alexander City, Alabama.
Held each year at Benjamin Russell High School, the camp gives children a chance at Drama/Music, Mixed Media, Mosaics, Drawing/Painting and Creative Movement. This year’s dates and times are Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 10, 2011 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
The Camp is named for Kitty Dark an Alexander City artist who painted intensely realistic and detailed landscapes of the area. Kitty was remarkable not only for the quality of her painting but for the way she dealt with a severe hearing loss. It was her inspirational message that gave her family, and Alabama’s Art Colony the idea to sponsor the Kid’s Arts Camp each year.
