For 18 years the Sarah Carlisle Towery Art Colony has provided a retreat on the beautiful shores of Lake Martin for artists to develop their skills with professional instructors and respected artists.
The Sarah Carlisle Towery Art Colony Retreat on Lake Martin is just one aspect of Alabama's best art colony. Each year during the first week of June, we hold the Kitty Dark Kids Art Camp. The Kids Camp offers a very unique, intensive arts enrichment experience for children. The Arts Camp is held at Benjamin Russell High School. The Alabama's Art Colony permanent collection resides at the Alexander City Board of Education. The Board of Education is open to the public from Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM. You can see the permanent collection art from the link on the left.
